I love how this ebook – by yes HubSpot again – the first few pages to stressing that absolutely everything in marketing needs to be measured. And then goes into a simple ‘Definition’ of a metricĀ  and then follows with ‘how to use’. Simple and effective how to metrics I’ll definitely come back to. Best Web Analytics 2.0 Tools: Quantitative, Qualitative, Life Saving! 10/10

Avinash delves into his concept of ‘Multiplicity’ in terms of tools – as in having a toolbox full of tools used for specific purposes and stresses that there really is no be all and end all single tool to use. I hate to rate everything he writes a 10/10 but I just have to. I’ll keep coming back to this to retrain my brain that metrics aren’t scary – justĀ  break it down this way and use your head and these tools and you’ll be fine. Particularly liked his comments about ACE (Adwords Campaign Experimnts Videos and Guides) and I plan to look into that more.

I absolutely love Avinash Kaushik’s apparent ability to tap into the collective concerns of the marketing community and address them in such an easy to digest way.

I found the example of the Bike Company by Matt Smedly to be of great use to me in very simply breaking down business objectives > goals >KPIs > KPI Targets , and I’ll definitely use similar charts in the future before pulling at straws.

Again, a lengthy and through report on Analytics – this one makes the case that the funnel has changed, where users are 70% through the buying process by the time they’re engaging with the sales process – and because now – marketing is responsible for such a large percentage of the sales process – they need to measure their effectiveness to prove their part in achieving revenue.

It explains also how to set up for analysis as well as right and wrong way of measuring, and with 8 parts of theory, I’ll be digesting this one for a while to come.
