The Conversation Prism – 10/10

Like looking at a galaxy and trying to understand it in all its awesomeness – the Conversation Prism created by Brian Solis and JESS3 is a complete breakdown of all a staggering number of social media platforms and placing them in categorical topic groups in a visual pinwheel of information. It then further arranges them into what needs they address, where they function, and how they interact.

Basically every time I look at this thing I have an aha! moment.

A very comprehensive visual write-up on the strengths and weaknesses of the many popular social media platforms available. Absolutely useful for immediate analysis of the platforms –  though I find it can be a little too opinion based and might need a bit of updating.

A comprehensive resource page that offers both simple definitions and a great list of resources to all sorts of sub categories. Search Engine Land adopts the theory that SEM refers solely to paid search, and thus this is a very useful SEM resource covering conversion, analytics – and offers a link to their How To PPC column.

Collection of Resources – 100 ways to use search marketing – 8/10

I love collections of material as a one stop shop – and this one from Top Rank Blog is a big one. Over 100 Search Marketing Resources categorized into type of resource – including Podcasts, seminars, magazines, blogs, books, websites of course, consultants. So in a way – they’ve already networked for you – and I’m sure I’ll come back to this many times over. I would have rated it higher had it been strictly about paid advertising.

Even if this resource is a little dated, being from 2010 – it still seems a very relevant set of things to do to stay current such as reading engine blogs, trying new technology out and the importance of building your own network of resources as an ‘inner circle of online marketing experts’ that you can bounce ideas and questions off of whenever you’re stuck.
