Like looking at a galaxy and trying to understand it in all its awesomeness – the Conversation Prism created by Brian Solis and JESS3 is a complete breakdown of all a staggering number of social media platforms and placing them in categorical topic groups in a visual pinwheel of information. It then further arranges them into what needs they address, where they function, and how they interact.

Basically every time I look at this thing I have an aha! moment.

Top 5 Social Media Questions and Answers – 10/10

There’s something inherently reassuring in seeing this list of  questions polled fro, 3,000 marketers and knowing that professional marketers are in a constant state of learning.

The list came as a result of the 2013 Social Media Marketing Industry Report, “How Marketers Are Using Social Media to Grow Their Businesses.” And what I love about this post – is that Lee Odden’s answers to their questions aren’t heavy with jargon and he also offers up links for further research into that topic area.

I found the fact, that 87% of the survey participants were looking for solutions and a little direct, on how to measure the ROI of their social media activities interesting – especially given the mass participation in social media.

An interesting look at the dilemma that arises from the ever growing need of businesses to “listen” to what people are saying on social media vs. the rising desires of the users to not be listened to. And the paradoxical question – “how are companies supposed to help customers if they’re not supposed to listen?”
